Sometimes all we need is a little motivation. One of the most frustrating things to grasp is having a goal or dream without having a clue how to achieve it. But with the presence of social media outlets (such as Instagram, Facebook, Titkok), our wildest “imaginations” aren’t as far away as they may seem.

Dr Jerry Chidester (aka Dr Chiddy), a board-certified plastic surgeon and TikTok sensation, wants to show the world just how attainable success is.

Every day, Dr Chiddy posts (at least) one video to keep his viewers engaged – one of the many ways he maintains a wide level of success. Whether it’s a dance post, informative post, or inspirational video, the Draper, Utah-based surgeon wants to let everyone know one thing; Anyone can do it!

Building a social media following or business is always a process. There’s no “easy” way around that. That’s why Dr Chidester suggests finding your “voice” before taking on the necessary steps. Individuality is important, and finding unique character and personality is key to growing on social media – especially on apps like Instagram and TikTok.

Here are some of the steps Dr Chiddy recommends that you take:

  1. Ask yourself questions, such as: “How do I want to portray myself?” It may take a while to figure this out – maybe a couple of years, but usually you will find that the answer is to “Be yourself.”
  2. Love what you do. You can’t expect to live your goals or dreams if you don’t have the passion or drive to make them your reality. After all, you’re doing it for yourself, so do something that makes you feel good.
  3. Start small. Don’t be afraid to take the little steps because (as long as you work at it) they will pay off in the end.
  4. Stay focused. Once you envision what you want to do, never lose sight of your goals. Obstacles are unavoidable, and you’re bound to encounter them along the way.

When it comes to becoming a TikTok superstar, Dr Chidester makes it very clear that you don’t have to be the greatest dancer or influencer. The essential task is to connect with your audience – whoever that may be – and provide them with enjoyable, memorable content.

The reconstructive surgeon doesn’t only give success tips for social media influencers, but for those who want to break into the medical community as well.

According to Dr Chiddy, he was very passionate about performing surgery at a young age. He always knew that medicine held a special place in his heart. This determination allowed him to master the art of plastic and reconstructive surgery – specializing in face, breast, body, and hand procedures.

However, the doctor’s social media presence certainly helped him reach more patients. He often stresses the importance of sharing information to ease worry and fears that patients may have – before going forward with a procedure.

With the amount of experience, he has, Dr Chiddy has been invited to travel all over the country by international businesses, telling his story and speaking to audiences about how to effectively develop a social media presence as a physician. He’s also been invited on multiple occasions to speak on numerous podcasts about plastic surgery and social media.

Sometimes, he runs his own podcast called “Chit Chat with Chiddy” on Instagram, iTunes and Spotify. Here, listeners get a firsthand lesson on achieving their dreams. These are just a few ways the doctor uses his voice to present inspiration and motivation to the public.

It might sound cliché, but Dr Chidester is a prime example of “you can do anything you put your mind to”. The opportunities are endless. There are rapidly growing methods for building a medical practice or business – whether new or established. All you have to do is believe in yourself!
