In a world where working from home is becoming more and more commonplace, getting your small business to stand out can be challenging, especially when you are up against larger competitors. However, standing out from your competition is critical to your company’s success. Here are four ways to make sure your home business stands out.
1. Give Great Service

In order to make your home business stand out, you need to build brand loyalty, and one of the best ways to do this is by providing great service. Have you ever been somewhere where you received remarkable service? Didn’t it make you feel great? Did you tell your friends and family about it?
Make it your mission to deliver extraordinary service that you can’t get anywhere else. Go above and beyond what people are expecting you to do. By always doing what you say you’re going to do and never letting your customers down, you will stand out from your competition and begin growing a customer base of people who come back to you again and again.
2. Surprise and Delight Your Customers
People love pleasant surprises, and when you do something that is unique, special, and unexpected, you’ll be remembered for it. For example, include a personal, handwritten note with your product. It doesn’t have to be anything long or drawn out, a simple and sweet ‘thank you for your business‘ can really go a long way. After all, it’s the little things that count.
3. Do Things Differently
Have you ever heard that saying, “it pays to stand out from the crowd?” It’s true, especially in business. To stand out from your competitors, you have to run your business differently than they do.
Study your competition. Look at their price points, their offerings, and even how they do things. Look for any opportunities that they’re missing and take them for yourself. Once you have identified what makes you different from all the rest, exploit it. Tell people how you are different and show it through your business. It’s a surefire way to make your small business stand out.
4. Get Creative With Your Marketing
Advertising has long been one of the best ways to grow a new business and make it stand out from the crowd. However, advertising costs can really add up. And, when you’re running a small business from home, you are most likely working with a smaller budget than some of your larger competitors.
That’s where social media and a little bit of creative marketing can really come in handy. Social media is free. Take advantage of it and make your presence known by getting creative. For example, create memorable videos and upload them to all of your social media channels, especially YouTube. Come up with an attention-grabbing tagline or jingle and use it. Don’t ignore old-school marketing tactics either. Flyers, posters, and business cards can still have great reach.
Building a business from the ground up and making it stand out from the crowd takes time and dedication. However, with a little research, creativity, and determination, there’s no reason why you can’t succeed.
