So, you’ve got your million-dollar idea for a startup. Congratulations! Now, you need the million dollars. Fortunately, there are dozens of startup conferences around the world that promise to connect startups and investors, as well as introduce you to like-minded souls looking to create the Next Big Thing (tm pending).

Seedstars Summit – Lausanne, Switzerland (April 5)
A truly global event, Seedstars brings startups and investors from all continents of the globe to the land of fondue and cuckoo clocks for a chance to win $500,000 seed money. Speakers this year come from such diverse locales as India, Egypt, Italy, and Denmark. Sessions include focuses on Fintech, EdTech, AgriTech, and HealthTech.
Startup World Cup – San Francisco (May 15–17)
One of the most highly anticipated events of 2019, a grand prize of $1 million dollars is up for grabs in the 3rd annual Startup World Cup. Each of the 40 regional winners will deliver a 4-minute pitch with 2 minutes of Q&A from some of the top venture capitalists in the world. Tickets are available to the public, so even just attending the event to see some great pitches and hear from some of the leaders of top corporations could be well worth your time.
Launch Festival – Sydney, Australia (June 17–20)
A spinoff of the San Francisco-based Launch Festival, which bills itself as the largest startup event in the world, this year’s event down under returns for its second year. Previous alumni of the original Launch Festival include Dropbox and Fitbit, so the competition will be fierce.
Startupfest – Montreal, Canada (July 9–12)
“Small enough to meet who you want to meet, big enough that everyone’s there” is the motto for this Canadian event. It’s even billed by the founder of Reddit as “a music festival for startups.” Over $750,000 in prize money will be awarded, and the conference boasts an Accelerator Lounge where founders can meet with top incubators looking for outstanding startups.
Techcrunch Disrupt – Berlin, Germany (December 11–12)
Yes, this is brought to you by the same folks as the TechCrunch Disrupt show portrayed on the HBO hit “Silicon Valley.” The focus of the show is Startup Alley, where hundreds of startups can meet movers and shakers from around the globe. As one of the leaders in the industry, TechCrunch brings heavy hitters to the table at all their events.
