5 Ways to Get Stronger in 2021

After a crazy 2020, it’s time to focus on you rather than all the uncontrollable in life. While health should always be a top priority for us all—we are still in the middle of a pandemic—many of us struggle for ways to keep up our health and continue to push ourselves.

But there are plenty of ways to get stronger this year, and it is easier than you may think!

So no matter what your body type is, what your budget is and what your current health status is, there are endless possibilities to make 2021 the year you get stronger!

Not sure where to start? We’ve rounded up the top five ways you can enhance your strength both physically and mentally. Because getting more vital is what is going to get us through this next crazy period in life.

1 . Be consistent with working out

Getting stronger is a long game that doesn’t just happen overnight. Consistency is critical when it comes to getting stronger, so you need to be consistent with your workouts! Schedule time out for yourself every day—whether it be just thirty minutes or two hours. You can always find the time if it is important enough to you! And you will be amazed at your progress after staying committed to your exercise routine consistently.

2. It starts in the kitchen

Little known fact—strength starts in the kitchen! You can lift all the heavyweights in the world, but your diet will ultimately decide how strong you will get! For your muscles to properly grow after breaking them down in the gym, you need to fuel them up with protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains so that they can come back stronger than ever before. A general rule of thumb is that you should always have at least a recovery snack no more than thirty minutes after your workout so that your muscles can get the proper nutrients delivered to them in time. Otherwise, you risk your muscles simply feeling fatigued.

3. Prioritize your sleep

To many, this is one aspect of our life that does not get prioritized enough. Sleep is so essential to our body getting the proper rest and recovery it needs. On average, we should all be getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night. It not only helps with building strong muscles but also with a robust immune system. When we give our body time to adequately re-set, we can truly get stronger. That is why all the top elite athletes in the world prioritize their sleep no matter what because it is such a key component in making you stronger.

4. Quality exercises

One of the main ruts people get into is that they don’t challenge themselves with quality exercises. If you are used to doing lots of reps at low weights, try changing that mindset to once or twice a week, focusing on max weight done with a quality technique. You will be amazed at how strong your muscles get when you shock them in this way.

5. Stretch your body

If you are injured, you won’t be able to work out and get stronger. That is why it is just as important to stretch your body after every workout to prevent any injuries from occurring. Even dedicating ten minutes to stretching your muscles will ensure that you can continue to get stronger without having to take breaks for your body to heal.

Getting stronger this year is something you can accomplish with these five tips. Remember to be consistent, eat properly, sleep enough, stretch it out and continue to challenge yourself!
