How Terra Virtua Is Making It Big With ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ NFTs

Since its initial launch, Terra Virtua has established itself as a one-of-a-kind platform for creating new virtual experiences. People can buy, sell, and trade different kinds of NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, just as if you were to do so with physical collectibles. As of 2019, it’s become the home to items from known movies such as Top Gun and The Godfather, and later this month, it will serve as the new home of NFTs from the upcoming film, Godzilla Vs. Kong.

What Is Terra Virtua?

For those who don’t know, Terra Virtua is a fully immersive, blockchain-driven virtual reality entertainment experience. In more detail, it combines VR, AR, blockchain and cryptocurrency to allow people to step away from reality and enter a whole new world of entertainment and NFT collecting.

As opposed to collecting “in the real world” with items such as sports trading cards, Pokemon cards, action figures, dolls and much more, digital collecting with NFTs make the process a bit easier. You no longer have to worry about ruining your favorite cards on accident or getting your items dusty because with NFTs, they’re stored in your own custom lounge. The best part is that you also never need to question if what you’ve acquired is real or not; NFTs are certified through blockchain technology, making sure of its authenticity.

Terra Virtua has taken digital collecting and created a digital space for people to share their collectibles for others to see. Along with users getting the chance to build out their own personal lounge to show off their collections, they can explore other parts of the platform like the Terra Virtua Art Gallery, which includes visually stunning art pieces from top artists that are both still and animated.

In addition to collectibles, Terra Virtua dabbled in the cryptocurrency world and launched their own. Terra Virtua Kolect, or TVK, acts as a form of payment that one can use to purchase collectibles, and also reduces transaction fees. If you end up with a certain amount of TVK, you’re granted access into Terra Virtua Prestige. This special club-like feature gives users early access to selected new releases, invitations to preview events, the ability to meet creators and artists, and monthly drops of free NFT and TVK.

Partnerships With The Entertainment Industry

In 2019, Terra Virtua announced that it had finalized licensing deals with Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment to release some of their most popular brands. Already mentioned before were Top Gun and The Godfather, but other brands like Pacific Rim and the Netflix original series Lost In Space made it on there as well, allowing for fans to buy items based on some of their favorite films and shows.

Perhaps the most anticipated NFT collection for Terra Virtua is Godzilla Vs. Kong. The new film, directed by Adam Wingard, shows Godzilla and Kong—two of the world’s most fearsome creatures—battling it out as the fate of the world is at stake, and within that time, humanity is working to take back the planet and get rid of the titans once and for all.

The company announced on Twitter that it had acquired the IP rights to the film from Legendary Entertainment. Life-size collectibles from Godzilla Vs. Kong will soon be available in the Terra Virtua Terradome, a place for collectors to display larger models of their NFTs. The film is projected to be the biggest blockbuster of 2021, so the release of NFTs dedicated to the film will be huge for the platform.

The Godzilla Vs. Kong NFT rollout will happen on March 31, the same day as the film’s premiere in theaters. Terra Virtua Co-Founder Gary Bracey expressed his elation on the partnership and what the platform plans to release.

“This franchise is one of the most recognizable brands in the world; these characters have been on our screens for over 88 years; so to say we’re excited about bringing this film pairing on board would be an understatement!” he said. “And, what’s more exciting is that we’re also releasing a full VR experience on Oculus Quest, so when we say we’re fully immersive, we really mean it!”

Bracey and the team at Terra Virtua don’t want to leave fans and fellow collectors empty handed, so they planned a pre-release item for their users. A special edition Godzilla Vs. Kong 2D digital poster titled “One Will Fall” sold out within 10 minutes of its release but there are  plenty more NFTs currently available for purchase on the Terra Virtua marketplace with new Godzilla vs. Kong drops in the very near future.
