Aurora now lives in the USA but she was born in Sicily, and is in Italy that her roots of deep love for the art world sink. She studied and graduated in the Art field at the ‘Accademia di Belle Arti, in Catania, which gave her solid bases for her bright career.
A turning point in her life was moving to United States of America where her work took off. As a painter, she was invited to exhibit her works all around USA in various exhibitions in Hollywood, where she was able to meet Hugh Hefner ( uncle Hef as she was used to call him ), who wisely advised her to return to devoting herself to photography.
In a blink of eye, she became a TV Reality Celebrity, taking part in the iconic TV Show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians, establishing a beautiful friendship with Kim Kardashian. When I wrote that try to put Aurora in an adjective box would mean to diminish her talent, I was referred to this…
In fact she is a contributor for Vogue Italia and Cosmopolitan, an influencer and Instagram Star as well as an entrepreneur for her brand Eclisse Creazioni Art & Photography.
Certainly some of Aurora’s greatest satisfactions were seeing her pieces displayed on Time Square billboards and being an integral part of a digital exhibition at the Louvre in Paris and Scope Miami, that still today are a source of joy and pride.
And speaking of art, in October this year Aurora will return to her beloved Sicily for a traveling exhibition called “Acherontia”, at the Med Photo Fest. Precisely in this period Aurora is working on the contents of the exhibition, which will be in black and white, based on a series of self-portraits, which are named after the moths. A captivating, romantic and dark theme as Acherontia are nocturnal creatures attracted to light, which is the main cause of their death.
Despite the danger, the moths continue to push themselves towards the light that attracts them, demonstrating determination and faith and Aurora is trying to apply this concept to her photographs. Aurora has a passion for self-portraits and portraits, which are her trademark. In fact, at the beginning of her career, she did many self-portraits, because she wanted to see herself from different points of view.
While as far as the portrait is concerned, the relationship that is created between her and the subject is something unique and magical. Each subject creates a story in its own right and is never the same as the previous or the next, as Aurora wants to photograph the subject in its essence and the pose instead goes down to a lower level, always dwelling on the light emanating from the eyes, in how much they are the mirror of the soul.
We are very curious to discover the works that Aurora Rosselli will present at the Med Photo Fest and we can’t wait to talk about them. Aurora Rosselli is a true entrepreneur who has been able to make her passion a successful job, perfectly balancing work and private life.
The courageous decision to leave what was known and dear to her, Italy, for an unknown future, the United States, turned out to be the most successful choice that teaches us that leaving our comfort zone and taking risks can open up horizons that we never would have imagined.
