SEO is still as important today as it was over 10 years ago. But what’s interesting is how much it has changed since then. Buying keywords and writing articles filled with keywords used to be an excellent strategy in the early 2000’s, but buying keywords in this day and age isn’t nearly as effective.
I would imagine as a business owner or someone who has their own personal brand, you would want your name to pop up in Google on the first or second pages. Well, as you may know, hiring an SEO expert can be expensive and it’s not a short term fix. If you hire the right SEO expert, you will easily need to invest six to twelve months to see results and often, even longer than that.
So What Is a Good Strategy Today?
I am not an SEO expert, nor do I claim to know all things content marketing. However, I did manage to hack my way into the first and second pages of Google under my name by simply getting my writing featured on popular, high traffic publications.
In September of 2015, I set out on a goal to get featured in as many online publications as I could. Without ever writing a single piece of content before this and without having any type of background experience in writing, within six months, I was able to get my writing published on 15 different online publications including, but not limited to Entrepreneur, Huffington Post, Fox News and SUCCESS Magazine.
With so much of my content featured on these large publications, my Google rank sky rocketed and now I dominate the first and second pages of Google under my name, Tyler Leslie. If you googled my name prior to September 2015, you wouldn’t have found me. Trust me, I know, because doesn’t everybody google themselves here and there? But now when you Google my name you see a lot of the publications I have written for and you will even find my own personal website and blog within the first two pages of Google.
I have never spent a penny on any SEO services. I do think that there is still a massive need for services that SEO experts offer, especially if you’re a busy person, but I also know that there are plenty of other ways to boost your Google rankings that don’t cost a dime.
Now I’m sure you’re thinking, well that’s great, but I’d rather have someone search a specific keyword and my business pops up on the first and second pages of Google. Fair point, however, this hack is for businesses or entrepreneurs who are looking to dominate the first and second pages of Google instead of only having one result pop up when being searched. Imagine a potential client or customer searching your name or business name, and they see that you dominate the search results. This will be an instant credibility booster, and they will feel more inclined to do business with you as it wasn’t very hard to find and trust you.
There are many different tips and tricks to boost your rankings, but the quickest and cheapest way is to write high quality content that websites like Entrepreneur, Forbes, Business Insider and The Huffington Post want to publish. Do this and watch your name climb rapidly in the rankings.
