Dr. Victoria Veytsman: Helping Brides and Grooms to Smile on Their Wedding Days

Dr. Victoria Veytsman, founder of Cosmetic Dental Studios in Manhattan, New York, and Beverly Hills, California, has a special heart for brides and grooms wanting to smile wider on their big day. “Fifty years from now, they should be able to pull those pictures out and reminisce about how beautiful their wedding day was,” she says. “Yet many people are anxious about posing for the camera because they don’t love to smile. I love working with brides and grooms and showing them that their smiles can be transformed in time for their wedding day.”

Dr. Veytsman has become one of the most trusted cosmetic dentists for brides and grooms who want to shine in their wedding photos. Known as Dr. V to her patients, she has been a general, cosmetic, and celebrity dentist since 2005. She has seen an increase in the number of people seeking out cosmetic dentistry once they get engaged.

“I love to show them how easy it can be to get a smile makeover,” Dr. Veytsman says. “For some people, the thought of transforming their smile is just as exciting as the thought of going on their honeymoon.”

When Dr. Veytsman first meets with her patient, there are two immediate goals, she says. “The first is to make sure there is enough time to do the makeover. Ideally, there will be at least 3-10 months before the wedding, depending on what the treatment is.

Assuming that’s true, the second goal is to make sure the patient’s expectations are realistic. Everyone’s smile is different, and what you may have seen on the Internet might work for you, or it might not. There are also a lot of altered photos online, so it’s important to be sure that what you envision is really possible.”

After this, Dr. Veytsman examines her patient’s face and smile and focuses on choosing the best treatment plan. “I have a lot of options for patients,” she says. “I can use veneers, orthodontics, Invisalign®, dental implants, crowns, and bridges to transform their smile. I explain this to my patient during our first meeting. I carefully listen to a patient’s goals, then come up with an appropriate treatment plan. In most cases, we come up with a blueprint for the patient’s smile, so we know exactly where we are going, and we go from there.”

Over the coming weeks, Dr. Veytsman meets regularly with her patient at her office. “I monitor their progress and make adjustments as needed,” she says. “As time passes, the change in their comfort with their smile and confidence is noticeable.

They can look in the mirror and see that their smile is improving, and this really boosts their spirits. On the day the smile makeover is completed, we celebrate. We look at the ‘before’ pictures and compare them to how the patient looks now. It’s an awesome moment for me and my team because we have helped someone feel better about themselves.”

Dr. Veytsman’s road to becoming a highly respected cosmetic dentist began at age sixteen, when she entered college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. At age 22, she graduated cum laude from a six-year program with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry as the school’s youngest graduate.

While at NYU, Dr. Veytsman studied general dentistry and performed externships in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Mount Sinai, Bellevue, and Montefiore. She then went on to gain experience in operative dentistry, endodontics, periodontal surgery, oral surgery, and fixed and removable dentistry with rotations in oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, emergency medicine, and general anesthesia.

Dr. Veytsman eventually returned to NYU for their implant fellowship; she studied and practiced surgical and prosthetic treatments, case selections, and comprehensive treatment planning. She has completed several well-known aesthetic continuing education programs and fellowships in cosmetic dentistry, smile makeovers, and full-mouth rehabilitation.

Today, Cosmetic Dental Studios is Dr. Veytsman’s private practice. She is state licensed to practice dentistry in New York and California and is certified by the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (formerly known as The North East Regional Board). She has become known for her smile makeovers performed as the official dentist to several prominent organizations, including Miss America and the New York Giants Cheerleaders. Dr. Veytsman has also been a featured smile expert on TLC, in Haute MD, WebMD, Yahoo! Health, New Beauty, Latina Magazine, Brides, Social Life Magazine, the Huffington Post, and Hamptons Magazine.

To Dr. Veytsman, however, success is not about building a business – it’s about building relationships with patients. “It’s about how many people we have had a positive impact on and how many now have the confidence to smile,” she says. “I know that I have succeeded when my patients return from their honeymoons and show me their wedding pictures. It’s when patients tell me that the difference in their smiles has made a huge impact on their lives. That’s true success.”
