More times than not, the general public will never see all that goes into breaking new artists into the mainstream and what it takes to stay there. We’re so used to accrediting solely the artist and their creative ability when it comes to discussing success in one’s career in music, but never the components that aided in their rise to stardom. The majority of the time, the artist is signed to a record label where they are assisted with teams of people consisting of A&Rs, Publicists, Managers, Marketing Specialists, Producers, Agents, and more. But even some of the top record company’s need help and look to outsource services, and in the current climate of music, the 740 Project seems to be everyone’s go-to company for their artist’s success. Follow us as we dive into co-founder Jesse Edwards and his company 740 Project’s history and accomplishments.
Jesse “Punch” Edwards
Jesse Edwards or known by the masses as “Punch” is one of three founders of the digital media agency, 740 Project. Punch came into the scene developing musical artists and serving as a beacon of light for the underground music scene and urban artistry.
The 740 Project is a digital marketing agency founded in Los Angeles, California in 2015, by Jesse Edwards, Rahim Wright, and Charley Greenberg. The company acts as a service that record labels turn to develop, market, and introduce new artists to the market.
740 Project Clientele
The collective holds a robust list of clientele consisting of some of the biggest acts in music. Their resume includes Justin Bieber, Travis Scott, J Balvin, Lil Nas X, Calvin Harris, Playboi Carti, NBA Young Boy, Tory Lanez, Meek Mill, Trippie Redd, Rich The Kid, and many more.
Jesse Edwards & Rahim Wright’s Digital Trapstars
With the sole purpose of preserving urban culture through music, Edwards and long time friend Wright built an indie digital marketing and distribution unit called Digital Trapstars. Digital Trapstars can be found on the music streaming platform Soundcloud. With over 115,000 followers, Digital Trapstars played a vital role in the development of the careers of artists: Kevin Gates, Rich The Kid, and Migos. The duo would go on to release multiple mixtapes, most notably the Screens On Lock series, where artists would go to drop buzzing songs.
It’s without question why industry titans like Capitol Music Group and Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings have partnered with 740. The collective’s ability to identify talent, develop them, and remain at the forefront of music marketing in an ever so changing climate that is digital is what propelled this agency to the top. Some of the biggest songs that have been put out in the past five years have been assisted by the works of the 740 Project.
