Mitochondria is the organelle of the cell and is known as the powerhouse of the cell. It undergoes chemical reactions and provides energy to the cell that is utilized for doing other functions of the cell. It seems that all other organelles depend on mitochondrial health for getting power and strength. The advanced structure of mitochondria is present in almost all human beings’ cells, but it varies in its proportion.

Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)

Mitochondria is responsible for the production of energy in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). The molecule of ATP is the real currency of life that is used for the activation or speed up the chemical reactions in the cells. Our body requires energy for the better functioning of the cell, promote health and create balance. ATP is formed by food breakdown, which consists of fat, carbohydrates into glucose, and then undergo a chemical reaction. This process is carried out in the presence of oxygen called aerobic respiration.

So, more mitochondria are required to respond to these chemical reactions in the cells. For example, from transferring messages of nerve cells to the body parts to these parts’ response, all actions require energy to function efficiently. This shows that mitochondria are an essential organelle of the cell and their better health is crucial for the proper functioning of the human body and its survival.

Why is Mitochondria’s Health Essential?

The health or proper functioning of mitochondria can be determined by the proportion of energy molecules such as Adenosine Triphosphate is producing. This energy worked as a driving force to carry out the other processes of our cells. The active and healthy mitochondria are responsible for various tissues’ performance and human beings’ healthy survival.

The functioning of mitochondria is reduced by the health issues related to aging, but it has also been seen that healthy mitochondria increase an individual’s lifespan efficiently. Healthy mitochondria mean that an individual’s overall health is good and has extensive energy to carry out all the processes. On the other hand, unfit mitochondria depict the unhealthy condition of the human being. Rather than providing energy, mitochondria are also responsible for doing other cell functions such as cell differentiation, signaling, balancing the amount of calcium and nutrients, and even cause the death of the cell when time is out. If we want that our body performs efficiently, then the performance of our mitochondria must be on-demand.

How to Improve Your Mitochondrial Health?

The healthier your mitochondria are, the healthier and active you are. It means that the health of human being depends on the health of mitochondria. So, here the question is that how can you improve the health of your mitochondria. If fitness is already crucial for you, then this shows that you are doing these things. These actions are listed below:

  • Always get a night of sound sleep, such as sleep at least 6 hours a day.
  • Participate or involve yourself in those exercises that enhance your breathing rate or aerobic exercises.
  • Do these exercises three to four times a week. And increase its proportion with time.
  • One training or exercise that is beneficial for human beings to increase mitochondria performance is high-intensity interval training. This training is responsible for the high pumping of the heart in a short period.
  • Intermittent Hypoxic–Hyperoxic Training (IHHT) is another novel technique pr training for the regeneration of mitochondria. It increases the inhalation of oxygen and enhances the working of cells but decreases free radicals.

It shows that an individual’s healthy survival can be achieved when his mitochondria are healthy and work efficiently.
