How Sam Flamont Turned Tragedy Into Opportunity During a Global Pandemic

The idea that through hard work and sacrifice one can attain financial freedom has been the fuel of the American Dream for generations.

However, for many, the American Dream slowly turned into a nightmare as the pandemic crept in like a thief in the night. Seeming stable jobs were labeled “inessential” and businesses that had been around for decades went out of business overnight.

However, as the saying goes, it’s always darkest before the dawn, and in every tragedy lies an opportunity, as long as you know where to look.

Sam Flamont is one of the few who knew where to look. He’s the owner of Mitten Real Estate Group and despite the pandemic, has been able to build one of the most successful Real Estate businesses in the greater Traverse City Area.

Sam’s story in real estate started 6 years ago where he found himself sick and tired of being sick and tired. As an ex-professional athlete, he had high standards for himself, but after stepping away from baseball, he struggled to find his “vehicle” for success.

After dabbling in a few industries, he met someone in real estate and was inspired by her lifestyle. He saw the time freedom she had, and thought, “if she can do it, I can do it”, and with no previous experience, decided to go all in.

Sam took the same tenacity he used to succeed in professional athletics and applied it to real estate. He didn’t care if he had to go door-to-door marketing to prospective clients or drive an extra 2 hours to do a showing, as long as it was legal and ethical, he was willing to do whatever it took to get the job done.

Not only was Sam a hard worker, but he was also a great student. Since he was new to the industry, Sam knew he needed to learn from those who had gone before him to shorten his learning curve. By combining his sickening work ethic with a teachable spirit, Sam was able to quickly rise through the ranks and make a name for himself as one of the top realtors in Northern Michigan.

Soon Sam decided to launch his own company, The Mittel Real Estate Group, and after putting together an amazing team, has found massive success. This year they already have over $43,000,000 sold and pending and show no signs of slowing down.

One of Sam’s secrets is surrounding himself with people who have the same vision/mission as him. He’s the first to give credit to his team and says, “without them, none of this would be possible”

We asked Sam for a couple of pieces of advice to succeed in Real Estate during the pandemic and here’s what he said…

  1. Don’t hesitate in this market. If you like it, get aggressive

  2. Focus more on the next step than you do on the finish line.

  3. The best way to get a deal is to put an offer in.

  4. Learn before you earn.
