How To Get Exposure To Yuga Labs Without Breaking the Bank

Who is Jimmy The Monkey? And what degeneracy has this chap been indulging in to find himself standing on trial? That’s the burning question in the NFT space at the moment with Yuga Labs announcing that “a new chapter in the lore of BAYC” will begin on 12/21.

Furthermore, with the recent appointment of Activision Blizzard COO, Daniel Alegre, being set to come on board as CEO in early 2023, it’s certainly an exciting time to be a BAYC/MAYC holder.

However, many of us are on the outside looking in on the excitement. At the time of writing, it would cost you 69 ETH ($83,810) to buy a Bored Ape, with the Mutant Ape floor sitting at a pricey 15 ETH ($18,207). If you’re not in already, it’s fair to say you’ve missed the boat for the time being.

Fear not though, there is still hope. Below we explore a project which will allow you to gain exposure to Yuga’s journey without having to remortgage your house.

10KTF: an overview

Mystery has surrounded this storytelling NFT since its inception in the summer of 2021. 10KTF initially burst on to the NFT scene by partnering with prominent projects such as BAYC, Pudgy Penguins and World of Women, offering holders of these communities the opportunity to mint their PFPs on to digital clothing. Why? Well, nobody knew why. They looked good though, and so everyone dived in!

As the mystery surrounding the intention of the project continued, a new part of the 10KTF story starring the main protagonist, Wagmi-San, a world renowned artisan from New Tokyo, was released every Thursday. Wagmi-San’s eternal battle against his mortal enemies, the Boss_Toadz, captivated the community while other projects ‘built in silence’.

This approach to keeping their holders engaged and switched on during the bear has proven to be a great success. What’s more is that the digital wearables held by 10KTF fans actually feature in the story via game theory, allowing holders to become an integral part of the narrative week-to-week.

Participation in these missions has proven to be more than just a bit of fun for those loyal to Wagmi-San, with rewards including airdrops of 10KTF assets and Apecoin being distributed several times.

Links to yuga labs

Although merely speculation for a long while, the connection between Yuga Labs and 10KTF ran deep for over a year. Hints and Easter Eggs were strategically placed in 10KTF artwork and promo videos – predominately Otherside based references – leading the community to devise wild theories on how the two were linked.

Additionally, although somehow kept under wraps for some time, 10KTF is a project created by Wenew Labs – which in turn was founded by prominent BAYC holder, Michael Figge, legendary NFT artist, Beeple, and none other than Guy Oseary, the Hollywood agent who represents BAYC. The signs were there all along for what was to come……

Aquisition by yuga labs

On 11/14, all suspicions were confirmed with Yuga announcing their acquisition of Wenew, formally bringing 10KTF under the Yuga umbrella. At this early stage, there is no known direct correlation between 10KTF assets and ‘The Trial Of Jimmy The Monkey’. However, it’s entirely possible that we may see the lore of New Tokyo feature as the storyline progresses. Why, you ask?

  • When the Wenew acquisition occurred, Michael Figge was hired by Yuga to become the Chief Content Officer, and Beeple came onboard as an advisor.Yuga Founder, Gargamel had this to say on the day of the announcement:“Storytelling and world-building are foundational at Yuga and I’m thrilled that we get to work with the creative mind hive at WENEW in a much more robust way. The possibilities of what we can do together are endless.”
  • 10KTF and Wagmi-San have already appeared in Otherside:

10KTF currently has a floor price of 0.3 ETH ($356) on its main collection, making it a highly affordable alternative for people priced out of the more expensive Yuga assets. There are other collections within the 10KTF ecosystem – some more expensive, some less so – and to gain an understanding of the mechanics of the project and how its assets function can take some effort. All the same, this is likely your best bet to get exposed to Yuga if looking for something which is slipping under the radar.

As always, DYOR and never give in to FOMO. Nothing here is financial advice, but merely a spotlight being shone on an interesting project owned by Yuga Labs. To learn more about 10KTF, visit the links below:
