Kaylan Arnold: Maintaining Your Own Reality as a Creative Artist

Creativity is one of the most amazing attributes that people can dedicate themselves to in this life. Nurturing it within yourself, as well as inspiring it in others is one of the most worthwhile and noble choices one can make because creativity and art are what helps us ascend past our modest human condition into something much greater. With this in mind, it was a great pleasure to talk to one of the most impressive voices in the music world today, Miami-based artist Kaylan Arnold.

We are sure you will soon see why we say that, but first, let’s talk a bit about Kaylan. At the tender age of 22 years old, Kaylan is winning over fans across the globe with her unique, inimitable voice, and her clear passion for music. As an artist, it seems impossible to pin her down to any one genre, largely because she transcends several, all in the span of a 3-minute song. Most closely, Kaylan herself identifies with the R&B/Hip-Hop genre, quoting some clear influences such as Drake, Jaden Smith, and Lizzo.

However, once you listen to a couple of her songs, it is clear to see she is so much more than just another artist, deftly weaving elements of dance, R&B, soul, and hip-hop in her music. She is also a multi-instrumentalist with a voice that sounds like it is on fire, so practically, the sky’s the limit for this young, immensely gifted artist.

So, it stands to reason that she is dedicated herself to her music, and she had some terribly interesting insights into her creative process, which we will share with you below.

“I think what I enjoy most about being creative is the freeness that I feel when I’m in my element and the confidence I get from knowing that no one except God can take it away from me,” she says humbly when asked about her favorite aspect of being creative. Formerly a wonderful basketball player in her high school years, Kaylan is clearly reveling in her choice to follow her creative side and make music instead. However, it is not all roses when following your creative path, and this is something Kaylan wisely notes.

“To me, the hardest part about being creative is continuously working as hard as possible without knowing the outcome. Sometimes it may feel like you’re doing everything blindly or it gets lonely but all of that is an illusion. You are not alone! Remembering to create and maintain your own reality is the hardest part. Being able to Balance music with your regular life and your mental health is difficult sometimes too, but not impossible,” she tells us, clearly in love with her job.

However, when you listen to young Kaylan Arnold’s music, she seems to be making an admirable job of maintaining her own reality and staying true to her roots. She is a powerful, headstrong creative who will take you along for the ride of your life, if only you let her, and we suggest you do. It is rare to meet someone so young, yet with such a great view of the creative journey, and we are deeply grateful to this young woman for sharing it with us.
