Following one’s dream of starting a busines and been successful isn’t always easy. Not everyone equipped with knowledge and skills chooses to follow theirheart. The primary reason for this is fear of failure. Or the comments that one usually hears during the struggle phase.

However, there are still many who take this risk and find themselves prospering. Let’s peep into the life story of Kartik, founder of Kshark Apps, a successful app development Company with over 70+ Apps & a total of 15 million downloads on their portfolio.

Kartik by profession is an engineer who later followed his passion and became a successful entrepreneur. Kartik completed his Bachelor of Technology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in the year 2013.

Here is the summary of our conversation with Kartik about his early struggles, strategies, and many more.

How did it all start? Have you been interested in building apps since your college days?

Yes, I have been strongly inclined towards building mobile apps since my college. However, I pursued them as a hobby. I had little to no idea that this hobby is going to be a turning point in my life

Later, after completing my B. Tech, I joined Infosys as a system engineer. After working in the corporate sector for about 2 years, I knew it wasn’t the right fit for me and decided to take a plunge into startups

So, how did you make a switch from your full-time corporate job to an entrepreneur?

While I got to know corporate jobs aren’t for me, I could see mobile apps gaining popularity. This was due to the adoption of smartphones. After leaving my corporate job in 2015, I joined a startup called Pressplay TV as a Mobile team lead. It was an early-stage startup in the entertainment domain that had just got $2.5 Million in funding.

Was it easy for you to adapt to startup culture?

No, it wasn’t as easy as I expected. I was heading a team of 5 people & I immediately had a lot more responsibility on my hand. Although the Startup jobdid pay me well, I barely had any free time. I would work 16 hrs a day which gave me no personal time at all and ended up killing my work-life balance.

It was this time I decided to dive into the app business full time. I gave myself 1 year to experiment. After multiple failures, one after another, I started seeing some success in the 6th month where one of my apps, Root File Explorer started growing and hit 2million downloads within a short time.

In 2017, I launched my startup officially under the brand Kshark Apps.

Do you want to throw some light on your startup, KShark Apps?

Yes. At KShark Apps, we build and market our own mobile apps. We also provide app marketing services to other app publishers who have a solid product but lack marketing know-how.

How supportive was your family in this journey of yours?

My family always supported me in the decisions that I made. I am the first person in my family to dive into a full-time business and I am silently proud of it.

What are your future plans with respect to your Startup Journey?

Currently I am building an accelerator for SaaS and App Businesses at SaaSLaunchpad.com. My goal with SaaSLaunchpad is to help as many SaaS/App Startups gain traction fast and figure out Product-Market Fit which is always the hardest piece of the puzzle for Startups.
