Marcus Swain, who goes by the stage name of Solstice, has been involved in music since the time he was first born. His parents always played R&B, Gospel, and Soul music around the house when he was growing up, and although he liked it, he wanted to hear more.
This is when his brother exposed him to bands like Linkin Park and Evanescence. Exposing him to different genres at a young age, Solstice developed an appreciation for the art form as a whole and couldn’t get enough of it.
Continuing to keep music as a passion, Solstice joined a couple bands in both Middle School and High School but was never fully committed due to his love for soccer. This all changed when he got to University and had more free time to practice and get involved in music.
He began to progressively grow as an artist and had an epiphany when attending live shows, realizing that he could do that himself and the rest is history.
Solstice knew he had the talent instrumental-wise to make it happen, but to get to the level that he wanted to get to he knew that he was going to have to learn how to sing and develop his vocals to be on par with his guitar skills. “I did it in secret, and never told anyone about it.
Artists like Craig David, Usher, and The Weeknd were artists that I would imitate at the time,” mentions Solstice. He put in the work to get him to the next level and is now reaping the benefits.
Creating and developing his unique sound over the years has allowed Solstice to make significant strides in the music industry. Showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, it could start to get real exciting for Solstice over the next couple of months. Stay tuned as he continues to live out his passion and change the musical environment in Alabama forever.
