Meet Kabir McNeely. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and is currently based in San Francisco, California. He is an award-winning actor with several acclaimed films including Pink Purple and Blue, Keith, Blue Girl and Blue Girl 2025. McNeely took interest in acting at age 7 upon being enrolled into an acting class by his parents.
In 2016, McNeely earned his first professional acting credit in a short film titled Ruth. In the year 2020, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many indie artists and aspiring actors, like McNeely, were struggling to find work.
He tried to think of a way to provide himself and other young indie artists with an opportunity to come together and make something. A thought came to him. He decided to make a film which would take place on Zoom. McNeely put together a team made up of 17 independent actors, including himself, from around the globe and created a film called Blue Girl. It was his first project in over a year.
Upon the publication of the film on YouTube, Blue Girl immediately gained thousands of views. Over time, the film gained the attention of influential people and organizations like The Trevor Project and the Mixed Roots Foundation. Many people enjoyed his raw and expressive manner of storytelling, so he continued.
Soon after the release, he announced a sequel called Blue Girl 2025, which has already received accolades prior to its summer release. He has also released a film called Pink Purple and Blue in which he received a film festival nod for his supporting performance in the film.
His films have recently garnered critical attention. “[Kabir] has such an innocently believable yet mature presence and manner about him in his role as Keith,” said One Film Fan about his leading performance in the film Keith.
Apart from acting, McNeely is also a podcast host, writer and occasionally does singing, songwriting and film criticism. McNeely hopes to continue building a career for himself in the film business and strives to continue creating opportunities for independent artists.
