Not so long ago, there was a time when the skincare industry was relatively new. Back then, the central theme of its marketing was to help women enhance their beauty. In came a barrage of powders, lotions, bronzers, toners, crèmes, and more. However, with time and change, the industry started to capture the imagination of women by providing products that aren’t just about beauty but also natural and healthy.
Pushing the skincare industry to evolve further is a generation of aware business owners who advocate superior quality products made of natural, non-toxic, and organic ingredients. One of them is Kaitlin Polk, founder of Naru Organics. She created her clean, organic self-tanner after finding it impossible to locate a conventional product that met her needs.
Kaitlin did not have business, growth, or marketing in mind when she decided to take matters into her own hands. Talking about that time, she says,
Naru Organics was pure coincidence. It came about when I could not find a suitable chemical-free self-tanner in the market. I was developing red rashes all over my neck and arms because of the tanners I was using. I realized that to avoid toxic ingredients or an unpleasant result, I had to make one for myself. And that’s exactly what I did. It took me a long time and many errors along the way, but I created a formula that works while staying true to its organic roots.
Her desire for a better-functioning product paid off, and the skincare industry took notice of Naru Organics. Their products prove that solid determination and a well-used kitchen can create products to compete with the existing market leaders.
Naru Organics believes no woman wants to add more to the list of chemicals their skins are already exposed to each day. They need products they can rely on, and Naru Organics strives to fill that gap. Kaitlin believes the biggest reason for her success is that she was “her first consumer. I didn’t make it to make money. I made it to help myself. There was a genuine reason to create something that works.”
