Young literary sensation Pragya Gogoi gained immense popularity in the poetry world after the release of her bestselling debut book “Whispers of a Nyctophile” in 2020. With 10 additional co-authored books and immense contribution to umpteen National & International platforms, journals and magazines, she has undoubtedly carved a niche for herself as one of the most talented, upcoming poets of India.
But what many of us don’t know is, this promising writer from Northeast, India has her literary skills stretched far beyond poetry. A versatile writer since childhood experimenting on manifold genres of writing, Pragya is bracing up to gift her readers a spine-chilling romantic thriller set in the city of Kolkata.
An extraordinary romance with the dark plot, sudden twists, bizarre relationships, unexpected coincidences and brimming with suspense- she hopes that her readers would surely find her work intriguing. She is also working on her second volume of poems. “Poetry is always close to my heart. This is one beautiful art I am never going to get detached from.
Irrespective of whichever genre of book I am working on in the professional front, poetry will always be my late-night companion”, says Pragya. For the unversed, she holds the record of being the youngest Indian author to write a bestselling debut book in just 3 days.
She says, “Initially I was scared of bringing out a book to the world written within just 3 days, but the love and recognition I gained was unbelievable. I won’t say I am fully satisfied with my 3-day work and I know I could have improved a lot more with time, but then everything happens for a reason. I wouldn’t have been here today with a world record if I had taken more time.
However, I am in no such hurry to publish my next books. I am devoting a lot of time and research to my books and I can proudly say that the maturity of my poems and writing skills now compared to my debut book have increased significantly.”
“Whispers of a Nyctophile” is soon turning 1 year old on 31st August and Pragya says she can’t wait to celebrate the beautiful day. “My book has changed my life. Never before had my heart absorbed so much love, happiness and appreciation.
I might go on to write many books in my life, but Whispers of a Nyctophile will always remain my most special treasure. It gave me my identity as an author, blessed me with a line of awards I never thought I would win, gave me some beautiful readers I would cherish for life and gave me a platform to interact with and gain knowledge from some of the most talented writers across India”, she tells.
Pragya’s beautiful book has been featured several times in leading media like Hindustan Times, Outlook India, Fox Interviewer etc in their must-read recommendations list. The young author has recently made it to the list of 100 Inspiring Authors of India for her praiseworthy contribution to literature and commendable achievements at a young age.
