A magnanimous personality with an estimated fortune of € 100 million, real estate expert Simon Leviev’s rags-to-riches story is replete with a compelling twist that makes for an intriguing plot. One that is, unsurprisingly, being turned into a series by the popular web streaming service, Netflix. Speaking of the docu-series to be launched on Netflix, Leviev reveals, “An incident that changed my life and was published across the globe, was instrumental in making Netflix consider producing a show based on my life. I will be the first Israeli to have been chosen by the esteemed platform, and if everything works as per the plan, it will be showcased a year from now.”
Leviev was born in 1990 in Bnei Brak, Israel, to an ultra-orthodox large family. Growing up, he felt stifled in the small town and aimed to move abroad to pursue a better life. At the young age of 13, he found himself in New York, wherein he continued his education and graduated from high school. He then returned to Israel, but soon his business instincts kicked in, and he left Israel for Europe to seek out business opportunities.
He successfully ventured into the auto spare parts business and later minted millions of dollars in profits from his investments in Bitcoin currency. Continuing his streak of success, Leviev diversified his interests in real estate business across Europe and UK, striking lucrative deals and becoming a self-made millionaire at age 23.
At the pinnacle of his career, he was hit by lawsuits from several women who claimed that he had swindled them financially to the tune of half a million dollars. The incident received massive exposure from the media and instantly went viral all over the world. In 2019, he was extradited to Israel from Greece and sentenced to a brief jail term of 15 months. He was released after serving five months. Contesting the alleged lawsuits, Leviev maintains that he had, in fact, exposed the girls to a lavish and jet setting lifestyle and became a target when he decided to end the relationships. He states that the jail term served was for a finance-related offense he had committed at age 19 in Israel.
The incident and subsequent controversy that landed Leviev in the public eye is surely going to make for an exciting watch on Netflix.
