Saral Patel is a young politician who did his undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta, Canada. He has done his Major in Political Science and his minor in Public Administration. Instead of choosing a comfortable life in Canada, he returned to India intending to challenge the political status quo here. Saral Patel currently serves as the National Convener for All India Congress Committee (AICC), Social Media Department. He is currently in charge of politically important, north Indian states in the department.
Saral started as a Congress party volunteer in 2011 and slowly and steadily worked his way up through the ranks because of his determination and never-say-never attitude. His initial tasks included creating buzz around the party’s activities on social media. Besides being active on social media, he has been active on the ground too. He worked with Gujarat
Congress during the 2012 assembly elections, under the leadership of then-President Arjun Modhwadia. He has worked on politically crucial 2017 Gujarat assembly elections under Bharatsinh Solanki and He has also worked with current Gujarat Congress President, Amit Chavda.
He used his social media acumen to amplify the voice and values of the party and its activities on social media. He was also one of the key members of the team which played a crucial role in the viral “Vikas Gando Thayo Che” campaign, one of the most vibrant and popular political social media campaigns of recent times, during the 2017 Gujarat Assembly Elections.
As one can imagine, for people like Saral, a person with no political family background and self-made politicians, things do not always come easy. Saral has seen his share of hardships. Being the youngest member of AICC comes with its share of challenges and responsibilities. For him, as he says, each day is a new learning experience, and he is cherishing every moment of his life.
Currently, as the National Convenor for All India Congress Committee, his job involves organization building, putting a robust social media structure for effective communication and dissemination of information, leading, organizing, and conducting events among other things. Saral believes in the ideology of Congress, and the idea of India, as espoused by our freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel. He returned to India to help his country progress on the path of development, and through his work, he believes he is doing it one step at a time.
