This New App Empowers Black-Owned Businesses

The country is awakening. Socially conscious companies and individuals are eager to put their money where their mouth is by supporting Black-owned businesses. Black-owned businesses are ready and have always been ready for a platform that recognizes and supports their leadership. Introducing: Black Nation App

The App

Black Nation was launched in 2018 by entrepreneur Rameish Budhoo. As stated by John Cornelius McCaskill, “Starting a business from scratch, you have to be a certain kind of person while having a passion for what you’re doing. There is no way around it.”

The app allows Black-owned businesses a platform to list their companies for free and to create visibility, not only for people in their areas but for those around the world. To use the app as a consumer, search for the kind of business you need in dozens of categories to instantly obtain top results.

Not only is Black Nation a comprehensive directory of businesses, but it has recently added social elements that allow people to connect more than any other similar application. Their goal is to give people a creative alternative to social media where brands and communities can engage freely.

Making An Impact

In less than a year, the Black Nation app has grown to over 100k followers on Instagram and received over 2,000 reviews with an average rating of 4.9.

Although consistently undercut by racism, Forbes claims that “African-Americans have played a profound role in shaping the U.S. business landscape. Technological innovations like the traffic light, automatic elevator doors, and even caller ID all sprung from the minds of creative black luminaries.”

In today’s digital economy an effective app like Black Nation is a priceless tool in driving not only the economy but also Black empowerment.

What’s in a Name

A Black Nation spokesperson shares, “The name of the App was crucial. We wanted the name of the App to reflect its vision and purpose, which is Black empowerment and Black ownership, but most importantly Black unity, thus the name Black Nation.”

Perks

Influencers and businesses can use the app to create giveaways. Unlike other platforms, the giveaway is easy to run as the app handles everything from creation to selecting and notifying the winners. Giveaways can be done globally or locally. In order to enter a giveaway, the user needs to earn an entry by engaging with others on the app.

The Explore section also allows users to follow and connect with others on the app. This promotes social interaction and fosters community. While the directory is the heart of the Black Nation app, it is truly a community-building platform.

Getting on Board

Streaming giant Netflix has gotten on board starting with $100 million and pledging to give 2% of their cash going forward to the economic development of Black communities in an effort towards racial equity.

If you are a business or individual interested in giving back, you don’t have to have an extra hundred million lying around. Start by looking for your next hair appointment, tux for your brother’s wedding, family photographer, outdoor meal, or personal trainer on Black Nation.
