Trevor Fey Shares His Inputs on the Future of E-Commerce in 2021

More and more people are choosing to shop online, which is great news for e-commerce sellers. It’s estimated that e-retail revenues will reach USD 6.54 trillion by 2022, up from USD 3.53 trillion in 2019. As someone who makes his living selling products on Amazon, Trevor Fey is an entrepreneur who knows the market extraordinarily well.

“COVID-19 has changed the world around us,” Fey says. “Although it’s wreaked havoc for in-person businesses like restaurants and movie theaters, it’s been great for people who want to sell their products online.” Experts estimate that coronavirus has accelerated the move to shopping online by five years in just the last six months, and that will only increase as the pandemic continues. By 2021, e-commerce sales will explode.

Fey also thinks that online sellers will have to optimize their products to be purchased by smart speakers. Studies show that 75% of households will have one of these devices by 2025. “You’ll need to incorporate answers to questions that people have to get more attention for your product.”

In addition to smart speakers, more people are buying from sites like Amazon on their mobile phones than ever before. By the end of 2021, it’s estimated that 73% of e-commerce sales will come from cell phones or tablets. “If your sales page isn’t optimized for mobile, you’re missing out.” Lastly, customers are more worried about the environmental quality of products. 65% of customers say that they want products that support sustainability, and that will only go up as global warming enters the spotlight. “Diversify the products you sell to include eco-friendly options. That’ll be a big cash cow in 2021.”

Fey started selling on Amazon at the young age of 22. Within the first six months, he made over USD 1.5 million in revenue, moving towards USD 300,000 a month in sales. He also helps aspiring e-commerce sellers learn how to use Amazon to break free from the 9-5 lifestyle and make their dreams come true. “E-commerce has really been a game-changer for me, and I know it can help other people.”

E-commerce is rapidly expanding in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it looks like there’s no stopping it. If you’re interested in starting selling items on Amazon, there’s no better time than the present.
