What Oils Are Good For Your Hair?

There are many hair care products on the market, but many contain artificial ingredients and chemicals that are not necessarily healthy. Rather than using commercial products, oils such as coconut, castor oil, argan, jojoba, almond, olive, and grapeseed oil are great alternatives These oils have long been prized for promoting health, growth, and shine in the hair. Essential oils provide extensive benefits for the hair and add a pleasant fragrance. The best essential oils for hair are lavender, grapefruit, and lemongrass.

1.   Coconut oil

Coconut oil is popular in healthy eating circles today and it is the ideal substance to “feed” your hair. Coconut oil contains beneficial fats that protect the skin and scalp, reinforces strands, and moisturizes hair. It prevents hair from breaking, hair loss and can prevent balding. Coconut oil locks in moisture and prevents hair from drying out, even on hot and dry days. Coconut oil is a terrific choice for nourishing the hair.

 2. Castor oil

Castor oil is made from castor beans and has a wide range of health benefits for the entire body including the hair. Castor oil is very nutritious and contains vitamins, especially vitamin E, minerals, and proteins. Castor oil stimulates keratin production and makes the hair look shiny, thick, smooth, and shiny. The best castor oil for hair growth is the cold-pressed variety.  Not only does castor oil stimulate growth, but it controls balding, prevents scalp diseases, can treat dandruff by moistening the scalp.

3. Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is derived from the jojoba plant and its oil is close to sebum, which humans secrete from pores and the scalp. Because it is similar to sebum, the scalp absorbs it readily and it enters the hair shaft and follicle. Jojoba oil is used in creams and lotions. The oil has antibacterial properties that fight cell decay and infection.  Massaging it into your scalp and hair properly provides the best results. Rub from the back to the front. Natural, cold-pressed Jojoba oil is the best choice because it contains no artificial ingredients.

4. Grapeseed oil

Grapeseed oil is beneficial for total body health and has been shown to have anti-cancer properties and promotes heart health. This oil is extracted from grape seeds and had a light, greenish color. Grapeseed oil is good for the hair because it contains emollients. Grapeseed oil restores moisture to the scalp and reduces frizziness and dry hair. Although grapeseed oil doesn’t cure dandruff, it can moisturize the scalp to reduce flaking.
