Who Okayed This?! The Riveting Life of Grant Davis by internationally acclaimed award winning author P.E. Barrington is getting a lot of attention.

Available on Amazon as well as other major retailers, Barrington’s thriller presents the story of a man in crisis. Grant Davis awakens one morning to discover that his life has been turned upside-down – and at the root of the upheaval are the people closest to him.

As he runs for his life, Davis must piece together clues to discover who is behind the nefarious effort to ruin him. His circumstances give new meaning to the phrase “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”. Author Barrington aims to highlight just how quickly a life can change.

“It’s a rollercoaster ride of how someone’s life can be turned upside-down in a split second,” Barrington shares. “The idea I wanted to present was essentially, ‘with friends like these, who needs enemies?’ We tend to live our lives in complacence, but everything truly can change on a dime.”

What makes the novel even more intense is that it is, in fact, based on true events, says Barrington. “It’s gotten a very good reception from those who love mysteries and thrillers with a twist.”

Author P.E. Barrington began writing after he was crushed between two cars in a horrific accident. He awakened to find a Philadelphia collar around his neck, metal wrist splints on both wrists, and a cast from his right knee down to his toes. He was diagnosed with concussion syndrome and multiple herniated discs in his neck and back. He was confined to a scooter for mobility.

“I learned who my friends were,” he recalls. “To learn someone’s true colors in times of need was shocking, disappointing, and sad.”

He recalls contacting a friend who was also confined to a wheelchair due to illness. She had written two internationally bestselling books about her struggles, which inspired Barrington to begin writing about his own ordeal.

“She told me to pick up a pencil, start writing, and worry about the grammatical errors later,” he laughs. “They can always be fixed. And so I began.”

He describes the story of Grant Davis as “faction”, as it’s based on true events but fictionalized to protect the identities of those involved. Barrington did indeed make a full recovery after his accident, and he attributes this recovery to his passion for writing.

He is the proud recipient of 2022’s Stellar Book Award, and his novel, as seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, has received countless five star reviews. He is considering optioning his book out for movie rights, as he feels it would transfer well to the screen.

“Winning the Stellar Book Award for my first novel was life-changing,” Barrington says. “I feel that I’ve found my life’s purpose and my passion. My next novel is definitely in the works!”

Barrington credits his success to the ability to keep moving forward despite any and all diversity that may appear to be an obstacle, coupled with the ability to see success crystal clear and as bright as daylight.

“This is what I’ve found to be the perfect formulation for ongoing success,” he says.

Barrington is originally from New York City and prior to his accident, worked in the world of luxury goods in Manhattan. As a novelist, Barrington travels the world for inspiration. He finds this greatly stimulates his imagination and creative facility for writing.

EXCERPT:

A threat from the past …

“Two months later, I received a collect call from Sing Sing. Yes, that Sing Sing, the maximum security state prison north of New York City. I didn’t accept the charges, of course, because I didn’t know anyone who had been sent there. After all, I didn’t make it a habit to seek out and befriend convicts. Whoever he was, the caller screamed over the operator as she was speaking to me. I heard him loud and clear after I rejected the call. He was threatening to kill me!

He called a few more times after that, always with the same message: “I’m going to kill you, and you won’t see it coming!”

I replied “Obviously your employer didn’t educate you on your subject. Two things you should know: There are a handful of alphabet agencies that have been keeping tabs on me for a very long time. In fact every phone has been monitored for decades. Even as we speak, this phone call has been triangulated and all of your information as well as all of your associate’s info are being examined, right now, in real time. Your entire existence is going to be under a zoom microscope from now on, so, get ready for a shit storm! By the way, you can’t kill me.”

He asked “Why is that?”

I replied… “Because… I’m already dead!”
