Go Against the Grain to Success with Peter Voogd

It seems like every day in the news you hear of someone selling their business for millions, raising millions, or becoming instafamous with their latest post on Instagram. While being successful is no easy feat, not many people have thought about going against the grain like Peter Voogd has.

The ability to become a household name is becoming more and more common in today’s social media-centric world. With the way our world is going, I wanted to sit down with Voogd and find out how he chose to go right to obtain success when everyone else chose to go left.

We all have an opinion on how to do something the right way. Through social media and the endless amounts of websites that make this super simple, you will find an opinion everywhere. An opinion is exactly that, an opinion.

It needs to be taken with a grain of salt and this was just one small thing I learned from Voogd. He’s a man that takes ‘very few opinions’ from people. This doesn’t mean he never listens to anyone, it just means that he chooses wisely who he decides to take opinions from.

In his best-selling book, titled, “6 Months to 6 Figures,” he has a whole chapter where he talks about this more in depth, but a few parts really jumped out at me. One of them being, “Why is it that we all choose to take money advice from people broke or in debt?”

This stood out to me because I know for a fact I’ve done this. I bet you have too if you stop and think about it. I’m not ashamed of it, and neither should you be.

I have chosen to change this way of thinking and who I choose to take advice from. Voogd has done the same, which is one of the reasons why he has obtained the amount of success he has at such a young age. He reached a  7-figure income by age 28 and became a 27-time international best-selling author.

The next time you are seeking advice about your situation, I suggest you ask others in positions you aspire to be in. If you want advice about how to workout and get in better shape, I suggest you seek out the person at the gym that is in the shape you want to be in, not the person who looks like they just ate fast food for lunch. It may sound harsh, but it’s true.

The above-mentioned approach is something that most people choose not to do, which is one of the reasons they don’t live up to their true potential. Remember, go right when others choose to go left.

Figure out What Makes You Different

In my discussion with Voogd he showed true professionalism in the way he spoke. Very similar to the way his book is laid out, and videos I’ve watched of him. All of this shows why he is a millennial game changer you should watch out for.

In order to really live up to your true potential, you need to identify what sets you apart from everyone else. If you are going to be different, what makes you different? You can’t just say, ‘I’m different,’ without showing it.

This is definitely not an easy question to answer, but it’s essential you dig deep to find out.

Why should someone do business with you over your competitor? This is a question Voogd suggests you answer. It will be the differentiating factor that will make you unique and ultimately will help you become someone of intrigue.

Becoming Unique

If there is one final message I can leave with you that I obtained from Voogd, it’s that you truly need to stick out from the crowd. You need to be someone different and unique. It can be hard for some of you, but it truly is the path to greatness.

Don’t settle for mediocrity, and instead strive for greatness. Being different isn’t just about saying it. It’s about thinking, acting and living differently than everyone else. Whether that entails waking up when everyone else is sleeping, or eating so healthy that everyone looks at you funny. You need to do what needs to be done.

The opportunities today are endless for you to be a leader and someone of value that obtains high levels of success. You just need to make the decision that if you continue to follow the crowd, you will continue to be like the crowd.

If you choose to go right when everyone else goes left, you have a chance at becoming the person you always thought you could be.

I think it’s time we start going against the grain to success to achieve our dreams.
