4. According to “Time” magazine, the 4th of July is the country’s leader in hot dog sales. Americans consume about 155 million snacks during the celebrations. It’s a damn sausage!

5. Some important people in US history were born on the 4th of July. Calvin Coolidge, the country’s 30th president and Italian Giuseppe Garibaldi and Barack Obama’s eldest daughter, Malia, blow out candles on this date.

6. In July 1776, an estimated 2.5 million people lived in the US. Today, that number is much higher: about 321.4 million, according to the USA Census Bureau.

7. In 2015, Americans spent more than $600 million on fireworks to celebrate the day. The two most famous spots to see the shows are the Statue of Liberty in New York and the Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington DC.
