Meet Trent Simonian and Jack Byrne: Creators of Sidetalk, “New York’s One-Minute Street Show”

Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.

Sidetalk is a comedic man-on-the-street show based in the streets of New York City. Created by 18-year-old Trent Simonian and Jack Byrne, the show’s high-energy one-minute episodes showcase the city’s most unique and entertaining characters.

Originally from Los Angeles, Sidetalk host Trent Simonian’s interest in street interviews began in high school when he hosted/produced his school’s TV broadcast, “Shark TV.” Similar to Sidetalk, the show’s concept involved comedic interviews with students and teachers.

Trent’s experience with Shark TV inspired him to set out and take humorous interviews to the big stage by bringing them to the streets of New York. With his idea for a New York-based street interview show in mind, Simonian connected with Jack Byrne before both starting out at New York University.

Jack Byrne, the show’s producer and cameraman, is a native New Yorker who remarkably holds an extensive resume at his young age. Working for immensely-popular meme page, “The Fat Jewish,” since age 14, Jack was already well-versed in the social media/entertainment scene before teaming up with Trent. Together, Simonian and Byrne began making videos out on the street during their first week of college.

Now famously known as “New York’s one-minute street show,” Sidetalk is a unique media platform that packs hours of footage into just one minute. Host Trent Simonian and producer Jack Byrne roam the streets daily finding exciting, new personalities for the world to meet.

These individuals are the stars of Sidetalk, and some have even developed a following, becoming recurring characters on the show. Some of these characters include “Sandy Kane,” the naked cowgirl of Times Square, “Lil Mo Mozzarella,” the mayor of Little Italy, and “Spider Cuz,” New York’s very own Spider-Man equipped with a Yankees hat, Timberland boots, and a bottle of Hennessy.

Highlighting the fascinating personalities and culture that make up New York, Sidetalk has gained the attention of thousandsrecently hitting the 100,000 follower mark on their official @sidetalknyc Instagram profile. Among these followers are celebrities including Bella Hadid, Sophie Turner, Marc Jacobs, Justin Theroux, Jeff Garlin, Josh Peck, and many more.

Catering to an extremely diverse audience, Sidetalk’s following is only expected to grow from its already impressive number in just one year. Seeing the show’s success, Simonian and Byrne plan on developing more shows in the future that are unique and entertaining like Sidetalk.
