Oral Health is a Neglected Issue in People’s Everyday Routine

Oral health plays a major role in maintaining the overall health of a person. It involves keeping teeth, gums, and overall facial structure healthy. Sadly, people from across the globe don’t pay the necessary attention to maintain their dental hygiene.

As a result, they fall victim to many dental health issues such as tooth decay, periodontal diseases, oral cancers, oro-dental trauma, etc. However, if taken care of early, it is effortless to prevent dental problems from becoming severe.

According to the World Health Organization report, over 530 million children fall victim to tooth decay of primary teeth. And around 10% of global people suffer from periodontal diseases and it results in tooth loss.

It is not very difficult for anyone to maintain healthy teeth and gums. It is the need of the hour to ensure the equal distribution of dental health experts and appropriate health facilities to give people access to primary oral health services.

Following a few rules for oral health care can help people prevent serious dental surgeries and treatments. For example, brushing teeth multiple times a day, flossing teeth daily, consuming less acidic & sugary food items, reducing alcohol consumption, and avoiding tobacco & cigarettes are some ways to avoid dental issues.

Many dentists believe not taking care of oral health on time could lead to chronic issues such as diabetes and heart problems. As a result, global health organizations are making strategies to eliminate dental issues in people’s lives in low-income countries.

Spreading awareness about maintaining oral health can help prevent the rising number of dental health issues with ease. In addition, caring for dental health is important for people to prevent paying for expensive dental treatments. And it could lead to an overall improvement in their health.
