Monetizing Your Passions Is a Real Possibility

If you follow your passion and put time and effort into it, the money will follow. Sure, your passion can be as silly as making content to try and go viral online. But, for Denis Piszczek, creating videos and putting them online would wind up turning into a venture that would change his life. In 2016, he founded a video portal called Video Trends, and the platform now gets over 80 million views per month. While the majority of the videos are from smaller page owners, the platform is one of the biggest and most successful in all of Germany.

Be Truly Passionate About It

At first, Denis began experimenting with pictures and short videos on social media with no intent to capitalize off of his content, but that all changed when he discovered the power of viral marketing. Before long, he was creating coordinated viral marketing campaigns on social media and quickly found success. This evolved into being approached by brands to publish content online, and the rest is history.

Build a Community

His passion for his work and the industry has also paid off in a big way as Denis scales Video Trends. He puts a lot of effort into ensuring the interests of the community match the interests of advertisers, as selling out to big brands would hurt the audience as the content they consume may not be in line with their interests. By being true and caring deeply about the platform, he is able to keep both parties interested, which will prove to be huge in the long term even if he is losing some ad revenue in the short run.

Networking: Give to Receive

Denis stresses the importance of networking and giving without expecting anything in return. Helping someone is completely free, but the opportunities a connection opens in the long term can be huge for you and your business. For Video Trends, creators that he and his team have helped in the past will upload content on his platform to be distributed internationally, which provides a huge boost for the platform. Without a genuine connection as a result of networking and giving nothing in return, such an opportunity would likely not have been possible.

In the ever-changing landscape of social media, Denis is constantly a student of his craft as he stays up to date with all of the ins and outs of working in the industry. While it certainly takes a strong work ethic, his deep passion for web content and posting videos online for an audience to see gives him the motivation to continue to work hard to ensure Video Trends becomes a global platform. Based on his current progress, that does not seem to be too far from becoming a reality.
