Obi Nwankwo’s Journey from a 9-to-5 to Becoming Hollywood’s Next Star

Jack of all trades and master of all, Obi Nwankwo is multifaceted and has excelled in everything he has set his mind to. Obi attended Boston College on a track scholarship where studied Finance, Management, and Leadership. It was here that Obi competed in the 300- and 400-meter events and broke 7 different school records. He was truly passionate about Track.

Even after graduating college, Obi continued to train as an Olympic athlete. He was now faced with a difficult choice – to be a professional athlete or to pursue a career in consulting. He chose to enter the corporate world and began consulting at Ernst & Young and later Accenture.

It was during his time at Accenture Boston when he began to dabble in modeling. He sent his headshots to multiple agencies and was cast in an ad for ESPN. This was a foot into the door to the world of modeling. Eventually, Nwankwo transferred to Los Angeles where secured more opportunities to model. Once again Obi was met with a difficult choice.

He resigned from Ernst & Young and began pursuing modeling, full time. His career soared, and he was featured in multiple campaigns for high- end brands such as Puma, Bose, Gucci, and more. It was during this time that Obi began expanding his modeling career into Hollywood and acting where he was met with success.

He received multiple roles in Netflix shows such as Dear White People and Family Time. Obi has been featured in an array of projects within the Music and Entertainment Industries including, Kings of Style with ASAP Rocky and Dapper Dan, as a Visual Actor in Justin Timberlake’s “Man of the Woods Tour,” and in Tyler the Creator’s Grammy performance.

Apart from acting and modeling, Nwankwo owns a private consultancy and agency. He is writing his first self-help book From Corporate Handcuffs to Hollywood Freedom. “I want to show people how to manage being a creative person within a corporate environment,” says Obi Nwankwo.

The book features a combination of autobiographical narratives and self-growth lessons that will help the reader understand how to achieve their goals and aspirations.
